The last decade was one of the most successful in the history of Montenegro according to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak.
Lajcak said that Montenegro managed to do whatever was possible in the last 10 years and everyone in the country should be feel proud of this in the celebration of the tenth anniversary of independence.
Slovak Foreign Minister is former Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the EU envoy for the referendum on Montenegrin independence and the first man on EU relations with Russia, Balkans and the Eastern neighborhood. According to him, Montenegro is ready for an important position in the international relations especially after the NATO invitation. Except the NATO invitation, the Balkan country achieved also the last years to be member of important international organizations and made successful moves towards membership in the European Union.
Lajcak said that the procedure for NATO will be slow but without problems and emphasized that becoming a full member will be a big victory for Montenegro. NATO haven’t invited any country for many years and this invitation in Montenegro is a good sign and encourage other countries that want to join the alliance in the future. As the Slovak minister stated, Montenegro proved that has the same beliefs and values with EU and NATO and that’s why deserves the invitation.
In the end of his interview with Pobjeda daily, Lajcak promised that Slovaki will continue to support Montenegro during all the procedure of its integration in NATO!
