Dubai, one of the most touristic destinations globally, was chosen to be the Host City of Expo 2020 from the 158th general assembly which took place in Paris last Wednesday.
Reem Al Hashimi, UAE Minister of State and Managing Director of the Higher Committee for the World Expo 2020, stated that this was a very important event for the city of Dubai. The decision was made back in 2013, but Wednesday’s encounter confirmed it.
The preparations have already begun, and Al Hashimi mentioned that there is still lot to be done. The works are constant since the day Dubai was chosen for the Expo and everybody is doing his best in order to create the perfect conditions and organize this phenomenal event, as she said. The time is also a challenge, as there are so many things that need to be done in a very short time.
Khalaf Al Habtoor, Chairman of Al Habtoor Group, said that the Expo will not be beneficial only for Dubai, but also the entire GCC region.
“Dubai is already a wonderful city which has a lot to offer to anyone who visits it and now it has the opportunity to be even better. The Expo will make it even more famous to the world… so the new supply of hotels will not be a flood for the market. We must be capable to cope with the tourism after the Expo 2020 too" said Gerald Lawless, president and CEO of Jumeirah Group.
Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s team which attended to the Expo Milano, learned a lot and feel ready to organize the event in their own country.
